Copying your own music is 'stealing'

FTA: "When an individual makes a copy of a song for himself, I suppose we can say he stole a song." Making "a copy" of a purchased song is just "a nice way of saying 'steals just one copy'," said Jennifer Pariser, the head of litigation for Sony BMG.

And us not buying your CDs is a a 'nice way of saying, "fuck you"'.

From now on, you may not rip CDs that you buy to your computer so you can iTunes them up, no more copying your CDs over to listen to your iPod, no more making a backup copy so if your CD gets scratched you still have a copy - all of that is 'stealing'.

How much longer can this go on? Granted, this is the first case that has ever gone to jury trial, so some of us are hoping for the best, but how ludacris is it say that making a copy of music you purchased, for your own personal use (not selling for profit or giving to friends), is stealing?

What is wrong with us?
